Bhatkal student tops Karnataka University MA Kannada, wins nine gold medals

Bhatkal: Shreyas Naik, a student of the Kannada Department of Anjuman Degree College and Postgraduate Centre under the prestigious Anjuman Hami-e-Muslimeen institution, has secured first rank in the Karnataka University MA Kannada examination and brought laurels to the college.

 

Having scored the highest marks in the MA Kannada programme, Shreyas won a total of nine gold medals along with two cash awards.

 

The gold medals awarded to him include those instituted in memory of late Mallappa Yallappa Kavali, Jagadguru Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji of Suttur Math, Dr. R.C. Hiremath, Prof. K.G. Kundangar, Dr. Panchakshari Hiremath, Dr. William Madtha, Dr. Gurulinga Kapase, Sangayyaswami Rachayya Swami, and Mahant Swami of Murugha Math.

 

He also received the Reverend Chennappa Uttangi Birth Centenary Memorial Award and the Nadoja Channaveera Kanavi and Shantadevi Kanavi Memorial Award.

 

At the 75th convocation ceremony of Karnataka University, Governor and Chancellor Thawar Chand Gehlot presented the certificates to Shreyas, while Higher Education Minister Dr. M.C. Sudhakar handed over the gold medals.

 

Shreyas completed his education from primary school to postgraduate level entirely in Bhatkal and has been recognised for academic excellence from an early stage.

 

Shreyas said the guidance and encouragement of his college teachers played a major role in his success.

 

He is the son of retired Kannada professor Prof. R.S. Naik of the Anjuman institution and Renuka. He is presently serving as a probationary officer with Canara Bank in Perambalur district of Tamil Nadu.

 

The management of the Anjuman institution, faculty members, staff and students have congratulated him on the achievement.
