Bhatkal rowdy-sheeter externed from Uttara Kannada for six months

Bhatkal: A rowdy-sheeter from Bhatkal has been externed from Uttara Kannada district for six months for allegedly posing threat to public peace and law and order.

The externment order has been issued against Jagadish Vasu Mogera (33) by the Superintendent of Police and Special Executive Magistrate, Uttara Kannada.

Under the order, Jagadish has been directed to reside within the limits of Ashokapuram Police Station in Mysuru during the externment period. Acting on the directive, Bhatkal Rural Police escorted him to Mysuru and handed him over to the Ashokapuram Police.

According to police records, Jagadish is facing six criminal cases registered at the Bhatkal Rural and Murdeshwar police stations. The cases include charges related to assault, attempt to murder, extortion and offences under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

Police also alleged that he had been involved in intimidating members of the public and influencing witnesses.

The externment order was issued after the Uttara Kannada Superintendent of Police examined a proposal submitted by the Circle Police Inspector of Bhatkal Rural Police Station. The action has been taken under the provisions of the Karnataka Police Act and came into effect from July 29.

Under the order, Jagadish has been prohibited from entering the limits of Uttara Kannada district for the next six months.
