Bhatkal: Residents panic as water levels rise at Nastar beach

Bhatkal 22 April 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) 'Unusual movement' within the water on Sunday caused water level rise with high tides smashing the shores resulting in state of panic among local of Nastar and other localities near sea shores.
According to the coastal police team led by Inspector Suresh Nayak, the fishermen community were put on alert for three days ending midnight today and were not allowed into water as a precautionary measure.
Speaking to Bhatkallys.com Suresh Nayak, Inspector Bhatkal Coastal Police said "We had alerted the local fishermen community about the unusual and nonseasonal movement in the waters for three days ending today midnight, this (the water movement) started from Bailur and Murdeshwar and is now moving towards Shirur and Byndoor, hopefully it will calm down by tonight"
"Our teams are patrolling the coastal areas across the town and right now this doesn't posses any danger to the residents but our teams will not take any chances in case we sense any danger and evacuate areas, we are prepared for it, we are hopeful the situation will not come but after all it is a natural calamity and humans can't do anything to control it" he added.
As soon as the images and reports started doing the rounds on social media, a number of locals and families queued their way to the beach side, who were later advised not go near the water by the police team.
The high tides came as near as on the local's commuting road while also destroying a under construction road near the sea.
