Bhatkal: In a drive to curb the use of illegally modified silencers and unauthorised alterations to two-wheelers, Bhatkal Town Police conducted inspections at motorcycle showrooms, service centres and garages across the town on Saturday and warned of strict legal action against those found violating the law.
The inspection was carried out under the leadership of Bhatkal Town Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) Naveen Naik. The initiative was aimed at preventing the installation of modified silencers that produce excessive noise and ensuring strict enforcement of the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.
During the drive, police instructed showroom owners, garage operators and service centre staff not to remove original silencers from vehicles or replace them with unauthorised modified exhaust systems. They were also warned against carrying out any other illegal modifications to vehicles.
Police said such alterations are in violation of the Motor Vehicles Act and clarified that stringent legal action would be taken against showrooms, garages, service centres and individuals involved in fitting modified silencers or carrying out any other unauthorised vehicle modifications.
