Bhatkal Police solve house theft case within eight hours; two arrested

Bhatkal: The Bhatkal Town Police Station police have cracked a house theft case reported from Purvarga and arrested two accused within eight hours of the complaint being registered.
The arrested accused have been identified as Mohammed Rahil (39) and Naushad Mukhtar Ahmed Hanchi (28), both residents of Ganeshnagar in Purvarga. Police said both were working as drivers.
According to police, a theft had taken place on May 20 at the house of Bibi Insiya Mohammed Rehan Saab in Purvarga. The accused allegedly entered the house, broke open the lock of a bedroom and stole gold ornaments and cash kept inside a cupboard.
Based on the complaint, police registered a case and immediately launched an investigation.
During the probe, the accused were traced near Purvarga and taken into custody. During questioning, they allegedly confessed to committing the theft, police said.
Police recovered gold ornaments worth around Rs 2.21 lakh and cash amounting to Rs 22,950 from the accused.
The police team was led by DySP B. Girish and included CPI Divakar P M, PSI Naveen S. Naik and other police personnel.
The accused were later produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody.
