Bhatkal Police recover stolen gold, cash; 21-year-old boy arrested in house break-in case

Bhatkal: More than a month after a house burglary was reported in Bhatkal, town police have arrested a 21-year-old man and recovered a portion of the stolen gold ornaments along with cash during the investigation.

 

The accused, identified as Fawzan Ahmad of Badriya Colony in Bhatkal, was taken into custody following an inquiry into the theft reported from a residence on Kidwai Road.

 

According to police, the burglary took place on May 8 when unidentified persons allegedly entered the house of Nahid Akhtar by breaking the glass pane of a rear window. The intruders are said to have escaped with around 55 grams of gold jewellery valued at approximately ₹5.5 lakh and ₹10,000 in cash.

 

During interrogation, the arrested accused allegedly disclosed that part of the stolen jewellery had been pledged at a Manappuram Finance branch in Bengaluru.

 

Based on the information, the investigating team recovered 29.01 grams of gold ornaments worth about ₹4.5 lakh. Police also seized ₹20,000 in cash during the operation.

 

The investigation was carried out by the Bhatkal Town Police under the supervision of senior district police officers. Inspector Divakar P.M., PSI Naveen S. Naik and other personnel were part of the investigation team.
