Bhatkal - Bhatkal's Non-Govt Organizations held meeting recently here at IB to discuss the bad condition of NH 17 and decided to hold massive protest on 1st November 2010 in case the Highway Authority fails to keep its promise to begin the repair works on 25th October 2010. It may be noted that, despite Rs 8 crore tender has been passed for its repair work and the funds have been already allocated, the repair work is yet to begin.
'The accidents on NH 17 have become normal routine and the concerned authorities are either ignoring or not interested in finding permanent solution. If the same thing is continued, we will stage a massive protest by blocking the Highway on 1st November'. These were the views expressed by several leaders at the meeting.
On this occasion Tanzeem President Janab Badrul Hassan Muallim, Seva Vahini's Mr. Surendra Shanbhag, Bhatkal Merchant Association's Venkatesh Prabhu, Auto Rickshaw Union's Nagraj Hegde, Mohtesham Mohammed (Monde Saib) and others were present.
