Bhatkal: A 46-year-old man from Bhatkal has been externed from Uttara Kannada district for six months under an order issued by the district administration.
The order was issued against Hawwa Ismail based on a proposal submitted by the Bhatkal Town Police Station.
According to police, the externment proceedings were initiated on the grounds that his alleged activities could affect public order, public safety and communal harmony in the area.
Police records show that seven cases under the Karnataka Prevention of Slaughter and Preservation of Cattle Act were registered against Ismail at Bhatkal Town Police Station between 2020 and 2025.
Of these, two cases resulted in conviction, while five cases are still pending before the courts, police said.
After examining the police proposal and hearing both sides, the Superintendent of Police, acting as the Special Executive Magistrate, ordered Ismail's externment from the district.
Under the order, he has been directed to stay within the limits of the Raichur Rural Police Station and has been barred from entering Uttara Kannada district for six months.
Police said personnel from the Bhatkal Town Police Station escorted Ismail to Raichur and produced him before the Raichur Rural Police in compliance with the externment order.
