Bhatkal: Forest officials demolish compound wall at Heble; locals allege 'harassment'

Bhatkal 23 October 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Bhatkal forest department on Monday demolished a compound wall which was allegedly constructed on a government land reserved for a government school, here in Heble Panchayath limits on October 22.
Meanwhile the local residents termed the action of forest department as ‘Harassment’ while adding that land in question is being contested in the court and the court has not yet decided on the issue.
Bhatkal Tahsildar, VN Bhadkar, who was also present at the spot added that the government land was reserved for Kittur Rani Chennama residential school, Morarji Desai residential school, ITI and Degree college which are planned to be constructed there, while also adding that no stay order from the court has been received thus far.
The forest officials called upon the police department for security arrangements at the spot to control the protesting crowd.
Bhatkal AC Sajid Ahmed Mulla, Tahsildar VN Bhatkar were present at the spot along with other officials.
