Bhatkal - 16 Feb 2011: On the occasion of 12thRabiul Awwal, Bazm-e-Faizul Rasool, a local organization held a Milad-un-Nabi procession to celebrate the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (SAW). The procession began in the evening from Eidgah grounds and after passing through several landmarks including Shamsuddin circle, Main road, Sultan Street, Shoukath Ali road and Chowk bazaar, turned into a public gathering at Public chabutra next to Tahsildar office wherein several Ulemas addressed the gathering and shed light on several aspects of Prophet's life. Large numbers of people from Bhatkal and surrounding areas have participated. This time some new events were seen as a part of procession including Duf band and Akhada. The people were also seen rendering Naat and shouting slogans.

It may be noted that, after Tanzeem's decision to discontinue the Milad procession in 1996, majority of people stay away from Milad celebrations.
