Bhatkal, Jan 31: There were protests by BJP on Tuesday condemning the official move to vacate the boards that carried the name of Savarkar, flagpost and saffron flag erected at Hebale Tenginagundi area three days ago.

Bhatkal BJP Mandala president and panchayat member Subraya Devadiga, Uttara Kannada Lok Sabha BJP election convener Govinda Naika, Bhaskar Daimane, Srinivas Naika, Murthy Bhat, Kumar Naika and others condemned the action of Hebale panchayat development officers.

Bhatkal BJP Mandala president Subraya Devadiga said that vacating of the flagpost and the saffron flag is not right. “There are several unauthorised boards in Hebale grama panchayat limits and the panchayat meeting had decided to vacate all of them. But the officers have vacated the flagpost and flag at Tenginagundi port area,” he said.

The protesters continued their protests saying that they will not move until all the unauthorised boards in the panchayat limits are vacated.

The workers of BJP and Sangh Parivar began raising the flagpost once again in the evening. Tahsildar Tippeswamy who received the information, rushed to the spot in the company of DySP Srikanth and staff and requested to avoid commotion. Arguments between BJP workers and officers ensued. But the construction of the flagpost was completed ignoring the presence of officials.

The protesters demanded that the flagpost should not be removed unless all the other boards are vacated. The protesters left after the officials assured them of keeping the flagpost.
