Bengaluru: Shock for consumers - KMF to increase price of milk by Rs three per litre

Bengaluru, Sep 12: It is learnt that Karnataka Milk Federation will increase the price of milk by Rs three per litre. Unanimous decision in this regard was taken in the annual general body meeting of the federation that was held recently in a private hotel in the city. All the district milk producers’ associations have supported the hike. In the meeting it was collectively opined that KMF will resort to increase in milk price in order to give more importance to dairy farming in the state as well as the financial situation strengthening of farmers. KMF president Balachandra Jarkiholi had appealed to the government to increase the price of milk owing to the constant pressure of district milk federations of the state. In the meeting, it was expressed that except KMF, the price of all other private brands of milk have increased their price and KMF should follow suit. Compared to other brands of milk, the price of Nandini brand milk is less by Rs 8 to 10 as per the opinion of members of the federation.
