Bangalore slips into monsoon mood

BANGALORE: It was vintage Bangalore on Sunday. Intermittent rain through the day, the sun playing hide and %seek and the clouds getting darker with the day. Unlike earlier days, the rain covered almost the entire city. From Kalyannagar, Ulsoor, Indiranagar, MG Road, Residency Road, Cubbon Park to the southern parts of Bangalore, it rained everywhere on Sunday. For the home birds, it was curl-up time with piping hot food. For the adventurous lot, it was about letting some rain-soaked hair down on wet streets. But for those out on work, it was all gripe as the rain and crawling traffic hampered their movements. "I loved the fact that it was a Sunday today when I got to enjoy a very different and great weather. On other days, I am stuck in an air-conditioned environment so today was a welcome change. I woke up at noon and gorged on some homemade 'anna saaru' (hot curry with white rice) which tasted so much better in this weather," said Archana Rao, a business analyst, who also planned a dinner out with family. But some plans went awry during the day. "I had to stop every five minutes an d run for shelter on my way to work in the morning. As a result not only did I get late to office but also got wet despite wearing a raincoat. Now I am afraid I will catch fever as I sat in my air-conditioned office with wet clothes on," rued Seema Rohatgi, an advertising professional for whom Sunday is a working day. For Zuheb Khwaja, a senior developer in a decision sciences firm, it was increased efficiency as he finished his work on his presentation sitting in his balcony and munching on pakodas. "This is too nice a weather to be missed," he said. And in the evening, this Whitefield resident drove to Frazer Town to catch up with a friend and then on to another friend's place to watch the Fifa World Cup finale. -TOI
