Babri masjid demolition case: Court issues warrant against SP MP, former Shiv Sena legislator

FAIZABAD/LUCKNOW: The special CBI court in Lucknow on Monday issued non-bailable warrant against Samajwadi Party MP from Qaiserganj Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and former Shiv Sena MLA Pawan Pandey, accused in the Babri masjid demolition case, for not being present during the trial. Also, they weren't represented by their lawyers. Special judge Shashi Mauli Tripathi directed the CBI to ensure compliance of the order by December 22. Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh was BJP MP from Gonda at the time of the Babri mosque demolition in 1992. He was also a close aide of BJP leader LK Advani and VHP leader Ashok Singhal during the Ram temple movement. He is accused of having provoked karsewaks to demolish the Babri mosque. Source: TOI
