Azhar's son continues to be 'very critical'

Hyderabad - 12 Sep 2011: The condition of Mohammad Ayazuddin, son of Azharuddin - Congress MP and former captain of the Indian team - continues to be "very critical," according to a bulletin issued on Monday afternoon by Apollo Hospital, where he is under treatment.

The hospital says Ayaz has been put on ventilator after suffering multi-organ failure. His vital functions are being supported with medication and other procedures. "He has extensive chest and kidney injuries. The prognosis and outcome are guarded due to the severity of the injury and continued instability," the bulletin added.

Mr. Azharuddin reached the hospital hospital at 3 a.m. on Monday. He flew from London to Bangalore and then took a chartered flight from Bangalore. He was in the hospital till around 10 a.m and left for his house, sources said.

Meanwhile, a stream of politicians and well-wishers continued to throng the hospital. Telugu Desam leader N. Chandrababu Naidu, Praja Rajyam Party founder K. Chiranjeevi, politician Nannapaneni Rajakumari and actor Nagarjuna were among the high profile visitors.
