The wait is finally over.
Apple has just announced the launch of its two new models the iPhone 5S – which it has termed as the most secure phone ever and the not so budget iPhone5C with a plastic build but yet priced at a massive $549 (Dh2,000) off contract.
Apple CEO Tim Cook has just announced the launch of two new devices. Yes, the budget phone is called the iPhone 5C and the next generation iPhone 5S.
The iPhone 5S will have 64bit A7 chip and will be 40 times faster than the iPhone5 and 65 times faster than the original iPhone. The phone is made of high-grade aluminum with diamond-cut and chamfered edges. The new phone will come in silver, gold, and space gray – a new introduction.
The iPhone 5C is made with all the incredible technology that customers have loved with the iPhone5. “It has an incredible new design. One that's more fun, and more colorful than anything we've made before," said Phil Schiller, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing for Apple, during the announcement of the iPhones launch.
The phones have been priced at $99 and $199 much to the disappointment of everyone who expected the budget phones to be cheaper.
Before go into further details, earlier Apple announced that its iWork suite will now be available for free on new iOS devices and that iOS 7 arrives on Apple devices on September 18th.
But to take advantage of this you should have an iPhone4 or a later version and an iPad 2 or the models that came after that.
According to Phil, a new motion co-processor makes the iPhone 5S motion sensitive and will enable a "whole new level" of fitness apps. The Core Motion API in iOS 7 will be updated to characterise data and let developers know whether you're walking, driving, etc.
The phone will have ten hours of LTE browsing and Wi-Fi while it can go on for 40 hours of music and 250 hours standby.
Camera
Apple has called its camera SLR like stuff with a new Apple-designed lens with f/2.2 aperture and a much larger sensor for low light conditions.
Phil said it requires bigger pixels to take better pictures. "We know a secret. We know it's actually bigger pixels that make a better picture." For video there is a 120fps slow-motion camera.
Fingerprint Sensor
And what we all have been reading about the finger print sensors. Apple has called it the Touch Id.
Apple is calling its new phone the most secure phone ever. It can be used not just to unlock the phone but also to make purchases. The data secured from finger print sensors will not be stores on the cloud or the servers making it highly secure.
Even developers will not have access to the code behind fingerprint sensors.
Apple has priced the 16GB at $199 and 32Gb at $299 and 64 GB at $399 which is almost irrelevant to us here in the UAE. The price pattern is similar to other earlier releases making it certain that the new phone will be priced similar to what the iPhone 5 was priced when it was launched.
