Anjuman Degree College hosts women's self-defense workshop

Bhatkal: 24 May,24 (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Anjuman Degree College, in collaboration with the Town Police Station Bhatkal, recently organized a self-defense workshop as part of their Women Empowerment Program. The event, aimed at equipping women with essential self-defense skills, was coordinated by the college’s Student Welfare Wing, led by Prof. Mohammed Ganim, and the NSS unit, headed by Prof. R.S. Nayak.

 

The workshop featured PSI Kokila Anoop, a specialist in cyber crimes, who provided valuable insights into various aspects of self-defense. The session commenced at 11:30 AM with the recitation of Quranic verses by Prof. A.R. Muneeb. This was followed by a welcome address from the Principal, Mushtaque K. Shaikh. Prof. Mohammed Ganim then introduced the resource person, PSI Kokila Anoop, who took over the session.

PSI Kokila Anoop covered critical self-defense strategies, including physical techniques to respond to threats, emotional self-defense to manage and counter manipulation, and virtual self-defense for online safety. She offered practical advice on managing social media privacy settings, emphasizing the importance of keeping display pictures private and avoiding the sharing of private photos. She also discussed the need to distinguish between public and private life and how to maintain boundaries effectively. Furthermore, she highlighted the importance of blocking biometrics in Aadhaar cards using the MMR application for added security.

 

The workshop concluded with an interactive session where students had the opportunity to ask questions. PSI Kokila Anoop addressed numerous queries, resulting in a highly engaging and informative discussion. The event wrapped up with Principal Mushtaque K. Shaikh presenting a memento to PSI Kokila Anoop as a token of appreciation. Prof. R.S. Nayak delivered the vote of thanks, and the session concluded at 12:45 PM.
