All drinking water sources to be tested before monsoon, says Uttara Kannada ZP CEO

Karwar: Dr. Dilish Shashi has directed officials to inspect and test all drinking water sources in Uttara Kannada district before the onset of the monsoon to prevent contamination and ensure the supply of safe water to the public.

Chairing a meeting of the District Water and Sanitation Mission Committee at the Zilla Panchayat Hall on Monday, Dr. Shashi stressed the need to maintain the quality of drinking water facilities across the district.

With schools, colleges and Anganwadi centres set to reopen shortly, he instructed officials to verify the quality of water being supplied to educational institutions as well as residential areas. He said departments must ensure uninterrupted access to clean and safe drinking water.

Dr. Shashi said effective coordination among departments is essential for the smooth implementation of water supply projects. He warned that poor coordination could inconvenience the public and delay development works.

He also directed officials of Hubli Electricity Supply Company Limited (HESCOM) to provide electricity connections immediately after the completion of Jal Jeevan Mission works so that water supply services are not disrupted.

The CEO instructed departments to submit detailed and accurate proposals relating to ongoing and upcoming works before placing them before the Task Force Committee. He said estimates and project reports should be prepared in coordination with all concerned departments.
