Aircraft with 7 on board crashes in Faridabad

New Delhi: A small aircraft with seven persons, including two pilots crashed in Faridabad near Delhi at around 10.45 pm on Wednesday night.

The crash took place when the area was hit by a dust storm. The plane caught fire as soon as it crashed, sending up plumes of smoke.

The number of casualties could not be immediately ascertained. Eight bodies have been recovered so far.

The aircraft was a medical ambulance flying from Patna. The aircraft was a Apollo (Patna) Air ambulance carrying critical patient when it crashed at the Parvatiya Colony near the Air Force Station, official sources said.

"The crash has happened in a residential area. I saw huge flames coming out of the crash," Naveen Grover, an eyewitness told CNN-IBN.

Officials of DGCA and Civil Aviation Ministry rushed to to the crash site.

"Police officials have rushed to the spot. The area has been cordoned off," Haryana DGP Rajiv Ranjan Dalal told CNN-IBN.

"This is a congested colony. The entire administration is working in full swing," he added.
