Acid attacks continue in Hubli

HUBLI -After stray cattle, miscreants are attacking people with acid in the city. On Tuesday night, in an hour, three people were attacked with acid in two separate incidents. In one incident two motorbike-borne miscreants attacked Allahbaksh Balaganur and his son Sharukh with acid near their house in Veerapur Oni around 11.30 pm. Before the victims could realise that they were attacked with acid, the miscreants fled the scene. As it was almost midnight, there were hardly any people on the road. Bendigeri police have registered the case. According to KIMS doctors, Allabaksh, who sustained serious injuries in both his eyes, could lose sight in one. Shahrukh escaped with minor injuries on his neck and back. Both were said to be out of danger. In another incident, Abdul Rauf Khanapur was attacked with acid when he and his mother were returning home after visiting a hospital. According to the police complaint the miscreants overtook his two-wheeler and threw acid on him. Rauf sustained serious injuries on his face and arms. Last month, four to five stray cattle were attacked with acid in Old Hubli area. These attacks continued for two-three days and stopped following public anguish.
