23-years after Babri Masjid Demolition: Muslims fight for justice

Mumbai/Hyderabad: Muslims all across the country on Sunday, the 23rd anniversary of Babri Masjid demolition, held peaceful protests reiterating their demand to reconstruct the 17th century mosque at its original place whereas Shiv Sena - a right wing Hindu party, observed the day as 'Shourya Divas.' Muslims in almost all major and small cities and towns held peaceful protests at 03:45 pm the time when Babri Masjid was demolished by extremist Hindu mob on December 06, 1992. Government and independent probes later confirmed senior BJP, VHP, Bajrang Dal and other Hindutva groups were part of the conspiracy hatched to demolish the Muslim holly place. The demolition of the mosque was done when the Congress party was in power and Narsimha Rao was Prime Minister. Probes also said that warnings were issued to the country's top leadership, he however was reportedly 'sleeping' as the Hindu mob razed to ground the historic mosque. Carrying black flags and holding placards, the Muslims protesters gathered at various places including New Delhi, Mumbai, Malegaon and Hyderabad prayed that the mosque is built at its original place. - Ummid
