12-year-old boy dies of snakebite in Sirsi; sister survives

Sirsi: A 12-year-old boy died after he and his sister were bitten by a snake while sleeping at their house in Sahasrahalli village of Banavasi hobli in Sirsi taluk.
The deceased has been identified as Mithun, son of Puttappa Naika. He was a Class 6 student.
According to reports, Mithun and his sister Deeksha were sleeping with their parents when a venomous snake allegedly entered the house and bit both children in the early hours of the morning.
The parents reportedly woke up after noticing the children vomiting suddenly. They then saw a snake slithering out of the house and immediately sought help from neighbours.
Both children were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Doctors were able to save Deeksha after timely medical intervention, and she is currently recovering in hospital. Her condition is said to be stable and she is out of danger.
However, Mithun's condition deteriorated rapidly, and he is reported to have died on the way to the hospital due to the effects of the snake venom.
