Three arrested in Bhatkal for illegal transport of camels

Bhatkal: Police of Bhatkal Rural Police Station have arrested three persons for allegedly transporting camels illegally in a lorry.
The arrested accused have been identified as Karan Babar (26) of Madhya Pradesh, Suhas Suryavanshi (22) of Shirod in Kolhapur district, and Yash Gotakinde (19).
According to police, eight camels valued at around Rs. 3.75 lakh were being transported in a lorry from Shirali towards Ullal in Mangaluru.
Police said the animals had been tied in a cruel manner and were being transported without water or fodder. The accused also allegedly did not possess valid permission required for transporting livestock.
The illegal transport came to light after police stopped the lorry on suspicion and conducted an inspection.
Police have seized the lorry and the camels. A case has been registered at Bhatkal Rural Police Station and further investigation is under way.
