Karnataka Urdu Academy’s Eid Milan, national unity mushaira held in Bhatkal

Bhatkal: An Eid Milan and National Unity Mushaira programme was organised by the Karnataka Urdu Academy at Amina Palace in Bhatkal on Thursday night, where invited and local poets captivated the audience with their poetry.

 

The event was presided over by Karnataka Urdu Academy president Maulana Mufti Mohammad Ali. On the occasion, students who scored 100 percent marks in Urdu in the SSLC examination were felicitated with appreciation certificates and a cash prize of Rs 1,000 each.

 

The programme, coordinated by Dr Anees Siddiqui and Shareef Ahmed Shareef, was inaugurated by Bhatkal Tahsildar Nagendra Kolashetti by watering a plant.

 

PSI Naveen Naik of Bhatkal Town Police Station, Inayatullah Shabandri, Maulana Mohammad Ilyas Nadvi and several dignitaries from educational and social organisations were present. They appreciated the activities of the academy and shared their views.

 

Speaking on the occasion, Maulana Mufti Mohammad Ali highlighted the academy’s efforts in promoting the Urdu language, national integration and communal harmony. He also urged the Tahsildar to facilitate allocation of suitable land for the construction of an Urdu Bhavan in Bhatkal.

 

The second session featured a mushaira, hosted by noted Hyderabad-based poet Sardar Saleem.

 

Guest poets including Prof Abdul Qadir Nazim, Prof Riyaz Mahmood, Dr Dawood Mohsin, Dr Natiq Ali Puri, Anwar Khan, Sheikh Habeeb, Ahmed Basha Sagar, Shareef Ahmed Shareef, Aslam Banarasi, Tanveer Ahmed Azeem, Sardar Saleem, Siraj Sholapuri and Rafiq Sarwar recited their poems.

 

Local poets Dr Mohammed Hanif Shabab, Iqbal Sayeedi, Ibn Hasan, Maulana Saman Khalifa Nadvi and Suhail Arshi also presented their works and received appreciation from the audience.
