Bhatkal: Several Hindu organisations in Bhatkal have jointly called for a voluntary bandh in the town on June 5, 2026, in connection with the ongoing Murin Katte dispute.
According to a press release issued by the organisations, the bandh will not be observed for the entire day but from 1 pm to 8 pm. Traders and business establishments have been requested to keep their shops closed during the period.
As part of the protest, a rally has also been planned at 3 pm on the same day. The procession will begin from Flower Market and pass through Marikatta and the Old Bus Stand before reaching the Mini Vidhana Soudha.
The organisers are expected to submit a memorandum to the Assistant Commissioner seeking the reconstruction of the disputed structure at the site and demanding strict legal action against those allegedly involved in its demolition.
Local reports indicate that the participating organisations have appealed to the public to ensure that the bandh and protest march remain peaceful.
