Case registered against Ananth Kumar Hegde and others for unauthorized saffron flag hoisting

In a recent development, a case has been filed against Member of Parliament Ananth Kumar Hegde and 20 others for hoisting the saffron flag without proper authorization. The incident occurred near Tengingundi beach in the Heble Gram Panchayat area of the taluk, and the case has been registered at the Bhatkal rural police station.

This marks the third case registered against Ananth Kumar Hegde within the last one and a half months.

According to police sources, the individuals are accused of violating the law by hoisting the flag in a public place without permission. The charges filed include sections 143 (violation of public order), 147 (rioting), 149 (unlawful assembly), and 153a (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, etc.) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
