Sirsi: A major mistake in the examination results has come to light in Sirsi, where a visually impaired student was reportedly marked absent in one subject despite having appeared for the paper.
The student, Leeza Khanam of Union High School, had written the examinations despite being blind since birth.
She secured strong scores, including 124 marks in Urdu and 100 marks in Kannada, besides performing well in other subjects.
However, in the marks statement, she has been shown absent for the Social Science paper. Because of this entry, her final result has been affected, causing distress to the student and her parents.
The issue has led to anger among local residents, who criticised the authorities for negligence.
Parents and local leaders have urged the MLA and education department officials to verify attendance records at the examination centre immediately, rectify the error, and provide justice to the student.
