Bhatkal, 26 May: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) The Uttara Kannada district administration has issued a clarification regarding the Murin Katte structure near National Highway-66 in Bhatkal and warned people against spreading false information on social media.
In a statement issued on May 26, the Deputy Commissioner’s office said that the temporary structure built with red stones on government land within the Right of Way (ROW) area of the National Highway was damaged by miscreants on May 24 during the ongoing highway widening and development work being carried out by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). The administration said legal action is being taken against those responsible.
The clarification added that the original Murin Katte site, where traditional religious practices connected to “Ammanavara Hore” are held, remains untouched and is in its original condition. The administration said this had already been mentioned in an earlier public notice as well.
Officials said some anti-social elements were spreading false and misleading messages on social media claiming that the original Murin Katte had been disturbed. The administration urged the public not to believe such rumours.
The statement further warned that strict legal action would be taken against anyone found posting or circulating fake or misleading information related to the issue on social media platforms.
