New Delhi: YouTube has reportedly started rolling out a feature for ‘Breaking News’ in the users’ feeds. This will be a different one, as it is not restricted to a specific audience but is done on a wider scale. According to a report by GN, as first reported by Android Police, the section has a collection of videos that show breaking news across the globe. Seven news pieces will be shown horizontally in the new section. Users can scroll and select the one they wish to watch. According to the reports, these videos are same for users living in a geographical area. YouTube’s ‘Breaking News’ section has a number of videos related to the Barcelona terrorist attack currently. This can also be believed that there is a possibility that this section and such videos will only appear when an incident such as the Barcelona terror attack occurs. However, it is unclear as of now whether Breaking News is a feature to appear occasionally or permanently, but there is an option of hiding the section if a user wants to opt-out. The feature is available for iOS, Android apps as well as for YouTube’s desktop website, and is being rolled out in phases.
