Youth suspected to have link with terror outfits detained at Belagavi airport

BELAGAVI: Belagavi police took a Kalburgi based youth, said to be having links with international terror outfits into custody on Tuesday evening while he was taking pictures of Sambra Airport in a suspicious manner entering into prohibited zone. Internal security unit at the airport caught him and handed over to Marihal police. Police produced him before court here at the late night and availed his police custody till 9th December for interrogation. Police have recovered important documents from his possession. According to police sources, youth has captured pictures of various airports, bus terminals, railway stations, universities including VTU and multi-stories buildings in Bengaluru, Mysuru, Belagavi and Hubballi- Dharwad in his cell phone. According to sources, central intelligence department and airport security unit will also conduct separate inquiry of the arrested youth. Police doubted assigning of some more youths in such activities. Sambra Airport is considered as one of the high security zone adjacent to the Air Force Training Centre. Union home department has alerted stated after recent terror attacks in Paris. -TOI
