Youngest Emirati female pilot flies A380 as Emirates turns attention to women

Dubai, March 6, 2017 :Emirates has highlighted the integral role its female employees play ahead of International Women’s Day on March 8.
The Dubai carrier said that nearly 44 per cent of its workforce of more than 29,000 is made up of women. Of these, 18,000 work as cabin crew, while close to 2.5 per cent are employed in managerial positions. Its female cockpit crew come from 24 nationalities and are aged between 20 and 59. The video shows captain Nevin Darwish, from Egypt, and first officer Alia Al Muhairi, an Emirati, flying the iconic Airbus A380 from Dubai to Vienna.
Emirates said captain Darwish is the first woman of Arab origin to have captained the Airbus A380. First officer Al Muhairi is currently the youngest Emirati female pilot operating the Emirates A380.
