Yellow alert for next four days in 11 districts including Uttar Kannada

Bengaluru, Apr 2: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of light to moderate rainfall in Karnataka over the next four days. Coastal and southern interior regions of the state are expected to receive rainfall, with 11 districts placed under a yellow alert.

Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Mysuru, Hassan, Kodagu, and Chamarajanagar are among the districts expected to experience rainfall. The IMD has also predicted a drop in temperature by 2-3 degrees Celsius from April 3 to April 5.

In Bengaluru, cloudy weather has been prevailing since Tuesday, and the IMD has forecast rainfall starting Thursday. The yellow alert has been issued for Shivamogga, Kodagu, Hassan, Chikkamagaluru, Haveri, Gadag, Dharwad, Belagavi, Uttara Kannada, Dakshina Kannada, and Udupi.

Moderate rainfall is expected in Vijayanagara, Tumakuru, Ramanagara, Mysuru, Mandya, Kolar, Davanagere, Chitradurga, Chikkaballapur, Chamarajanagar, Bengaluru Rural, and Bengaluru Urban. The IMD has warned of heavy rainfall on April 4, 5, and 6, leading to a yellow alert for several key districts, according to weather scientist C S Patil.

Dharwad, Kalghatgi, and Belagavi have already received rainfall, while Kalaburagi recorded a maximum temperature of 40°C. A cyclonic system developing over the Bay of Bengal is expected to impact Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu. Thunderstorms are likely in Dharwad, Kalaburagi, Bagalkote, Gadag, and Haveri districts on Wednesday, as per the IMD forecast.
