Yeddyurappa discharged from hospital, returns to jail

Bangalore - 19 Oct 20-11: In a dramatic development former chief minister B SYeddyurappahas been discharged from state-runVictoria Hospitaland moved to Parappanna Agrahara Central Prison this morning.

Yeddyurappa, to evade jail, shifted from Jayadeva Hospital to Victoria Hospital on Tuesday evening after getting report that his heart condition was fine and however, required further treatment for different ailments from a multi-speciality hospital like Victoria Hospital.

Before moving out of Victoria Hospital to jail, Yeddyurappa is said to have told his close circles that even if he would die he would die in a jail hospital and was frustrated with media reports that accused him of feigning illness as a way to avoid prison. To avoid media glare, Yeddyurappa took exit route from the mortuary of the Jayadeva Hospital yesterday. Yeddyurappa, who is a known hypertention and diabetic person, was treated in central jail hospital. Later at around 1.45 am on Sunday, he was shifted to state-run Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research after complaining of uneasiness and chest pain.

However, in a sudden move late on Tuesday evening, Victoria Hospital medical superintendent BG Tilak opted for voluntary retirement. He is said to have cited political pressure as the reason for his move. He was due to retire in February 2012.

SeniorBJPleaderL K Advani, who is on undertaking rath yatra against corruption, on Tuesday admitted embarrassment on account of Yeddyurappa's arrest in an alleged land scam. He said it will be difficult to win against the "corrupt" Congress if his party too is bedevilled by similar weaknesses.

"We don't take our internal weaknesses lightly. This thing was vindicated in Karnataka clearly. We had cautioned him but once the report came, he had to quit. Small mistakes by others is embarrassing the party leadership. There may be chances of a slip up so I am telling every one in the party to remain vigilant," he said.
The Special Lokayukata court after rejecting bail application on October 15 remanded Yeddyurappa to judicial custody till October 22. He has been charged for misusing his office while he was chief minister to help his two sons get prized public land at throwaway prices. The former chief minister who has moved a bail plea in the Karnataka High Court, has adjourned matter till October 20. Five private complaints have so far been filed by Sirajin Basha against Yeddyurappa alleging irregularities in denotification of government land.
