Bhatkal: 13 October 2021 (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Years after the general public of Jamia Abad road first reported their reservations about the lack of adequate dump yard for the neighborhood as a result of which the residential areas in the vicinity have turned into mini-dump yards, the condition of the locality that comes under the jurisdiction of Heble Panchyatah, remains the same.
The issue has been raised with several local and district level authorities and officers but the pleas of people have largely fell into deaf ears.
The Panchayath councilors and officials tend to play the victim card every time they are questioned about the issue, stating that they are not allotted a plot for dump yard by the government and hence they are waiting for such sanctions to come from the government to help people.
On Wednesday, the garbage that was lingering beside the roads overflew on the road creating difficulties to the commuters on the way including school vans and other four-wheelers, who were forced to drive their way through only one lane of the road.
The Panchayath officials later reached the spot and cleared the way but only by putting the garbage off the road and did not clear it for good.
People of Jamia Abad road have expressed their anguish once again over the issue and rightly so, they were apprised of initiating action in this regard last month when the Zilla Panchayath CEO had visited the town. The CEO was informed about the issue after which the local had hoped for a swift action in the matter, but much for their disappointment, tons of garbage thrown illicitly continues to be ignored by the authorities.
