World Environment Day observed at Shams School

June 21, 2016 | Correspondent | Bhatkallys News Bhatkal: The World Environment Day is observed in June every year by people all across the world to raise global awareness on the importance of healthy and green environment. This day is celebrated to encourage people from all walks of life not only to actively participate in the celebration but also to become active agents in developing environmental safety measures. It is a day to encourage people to make their surroundings safe and clean in order to enjoy a safer, cleaner and prosperous future. Like other parts of the world, the World Environment Day was also observed in Shams English School Bhatkal with the aim to protect the environment and motivate students to be causative agents of change against the deteriorating quality of environment for future generations. Renowned Lawyer Mr. S M Khan participated in the programme as the Chief Guest. Addressing the students at the occasion, the chief guest said that students should plant more and more trees and take care of them till they attain maturity and become strong enough to sustain themselves. Terming plastic use as inevitable, he urged the students to minimise their use, to recycle them, and to dispose them in separate bins. In his key speech, Syed Ashraf Barmawar, in the light of Islamic teachings, encouraged the students to plant more saplings. Mohammed Raza Manvi, Talha Siddibapa, Shakir Diagnomed, Moulvi Abdus Subhaan and others were present on the dais. On this occasion, saplings were distributed among students. World Environment Day (WED) is observed every year on 5 June to raise global awareness to take positive environmental action to protect nature and the planet Earth.
