Workshop on entrepreneurship a resounding success

MANGALURU, 20 August, 2016 ( Bhatkallys News): The entrepreneurship workshop held here on August 18, 2016 by Bhatkali Jamatul Muslimeen, Mangaluru, enabled to awaken entrepreneur instincts of Bhatkal students. The workshop with a theme, 'Awaken the entrepreneur in you', evoked tremendous response from the participants who interacted well with the speaker. Initiating the workshop, Mr. Aftab Husain Kola, the workshop co­ordinator, said, "Entrepreneurship is a very vital aspect of any nation’s economy and is the crucial driver for employment and economic growth. Navayaths are a mercantile community, i.e. trading people. Right from the period they landed on the west coast of India around the eight century  AD Navayaths have been engaged in businesses. But of late, our businesses in India are vanishing one by one. So, it is time we re­emerge as a strong business community. That is the reason we have taken this initiative to organise a workshop to foster the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship in our youngsters."59a72b46-dacd-44a3-863e-3e43f42eaffa Eminent Resource Person, Professor Ganim Mohtisham of Anjuman Degree College, Bhatkal who conducted the workshop, began by talking about entrepreneurial energy taking the a classic example of late Mohammed Ali Clay, the legendary boxer. Taking real life cases of a few entrepreneurs, Ganim identified the qualities of these people which made them highly successful. He said, "P.C. Mustafa, of ID dosa batter and ID Parantha fame, was a school dropout who went on to study at IIMB, left his prestigious software job to start an enterprise that sold idly­dosa batter. He invested just Rs. 25,000 initially and today runs a company with a 100­crore turnover. Ganim then asked the participants to list out the traits in such businessmen and the lively participants came out with amazing answers and won many prizes. An overview of business opportunities in Uttara Kannada district was also given by Ganim's assistant Zulfikil Ruknuddin. Mr. S.M. Arshad, president of BJM Mangaluru, advised the students to follow sincerely what was taught in the workshop. Damda Imtiaz, general secretary of BJM, was present on the occasion. Talha Akrami, secretary, BJM, proposed a vote of thanks. 55 students attended the workshop. The workshop was followed by dinner.
