Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy on Saturday said he will quit politics, if the audio clip released by him on BJP state president BS Yeddyurappa, purportedly, luring JD(S) lawmakers with bribes, are proven to be fake. Kumaraswamy earlier claimed that BJP as part of its ‘Operation Kamala’ tried to lure Janata Dal (Secular) MLAs in order to topple Congress-JD(S) government in the state. He also released audio clip, purportedly, of a conversation between BJP State Chief BS Yeddyurappa and Kandkur's son Sharana, in which Yeddyurappa allegedly made the offer. He released the clip during a press conference hours before the presentation of the state budget in the Assembly. The claim was rejected by Yeddyurappa, who dubbed the recordings as “fake” and “concocted”. Earlier in the day, the Karnataka Chief Minister alleged that PM Modi is encouraging his friends to demolish democracy through black money, adding he has the evidence to back his charge. “On one side Narendra Modi is preaching to the country and politicians, on the other side, he is encouraging his friends to demolish democracy through black money. I will expose this now, I have the proof to back my charge,” he added. A day after, Congress leader KC Venugopal in a press conference further alleged that Yeddyurappa offered a bribe of Rs 10 crore per MLA to get them to switch sides and that he is in touch with 18 MLAs. “Yeddyurappa is offering minister post to 12 MLAs and 6 others have been offered chairman posts in different boards,” he said. Kumaraswamy, in order to placate the rebels offered them prominent positions in the government. Pratap Gowda Patil, Basaveshwaranagar Daddal and MA Gopalaswamy benefitted from the move.
