Bhatkal: For the first time in the history of Bhatkal, an interactive workshop on 'A career in Civil Services' under the aegis of We The Bhatkallys (D & D Group) will be held for the senior Muslim students on December 23, 2015 at Kazia Hasan Hall, Rabita Complex, Navayath Colony, Bhatkal.
According to Mr. Abdul Basit Ekkeri and Mr. Mohammed Riyaz Ishaqui, convenors for the event, "The objective is to motivate senior students from Bhatkal to pursue civil services (IAS, IPS, IFS, KAS, etc) as a career after graduation. The idea of the workshop is to select a few potential students who have interest, passion and commitment and groom them to write the civil services examinations. This event would be followed by a long-term strategy of working on the probable students so that they reach the stage of writing the civil services examinations."
Mr. Mohammed Sanaulla, IAS (Retd.), who served as former Principal Secretary to Govt of Karnataka in several departments; and Prof. Imtiaz Ahmad Siddiqui, former professor at Delhi University and director of Civil Services Coaching and Guidance Centre at the Zakat Foundation of India, New Delhi will grace the event as expert resource persons. Mr. S. R. Sharieff, Director of Al Fazal Indian International School, Makkah will also grace the occasion.
The workshop will be preceded by an inaugural session starting at 9:30am which will be presided over by Qaaeda Qaum, Mr S.M. Syed Khalilurrahman CA. The event is supervised under the guidance of Mr. Aftab Husain Kola, former Associate editor, Times of Oman and co-ordinated by Mr. Mohammed Aftab Qamri, secretary, Professional Colleges Board, Anjuman Hami-e-Muslimeen, Bhatkal.
The workshop is expected to be attended by 75 selected students. An Expression of Interest form has been distributed to Bhatkal-based BE, MBA, BBA, BCA, PUC students and based on the feedback students' participation will be confirmed. For the inaugural session community elders, social workers, youth activists, journalists have been invited.
We The Bhatkallys Group was formed to create an awareness on social, education and political issues, especially engaging the youngsters of Bhatkal using a debate format on social media platforms. With an objective aimed at bringing a change in the society and thereby providing a better life for the citizens, We The Bhatkallys Group is making consistent efforts on this front.
It has a Facebook page (around 4000 members) with a focus on preserving our cultural heritage and inculcating in youth a spirit of social service and patriotism. It also shares useful information and news among our members.
