"We have sought help from ISRO and Google in finding them" Fisheries minister says in Bhatkal after meeting families of missing fishermen

Bhatkal 10 January 2019: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) The Minister for fisheries and Animal Husbandry Venkat Rao Nadagouda on Thursday visited the Bhatkal and met the families of Missing fishermen of Bhatkal Taluk and expressed solidarity with the family. Among the seven missing fishermen who went missing while fishing along with their boat from the Malpe port, two persons i.e. Harish Moger and Ramesh Moger were from Bhatkal Taluka. The minister after visiting the houses of missing fishermen from Honnavar and Kumta Taluka reached Bhatkal later. While consoling the family of missing fishermen, the Minister spoke with the media and said, “Among the seven missing fishermen, five were from Uttara Kannada District. We have sought help from ISRO as well as the Google for the search operation and also sent letters to the Chief Minister of Goa, Maharastra and Gujarat regarding the matter.” He further added that “They may have not entered the Pakistan Waters as it requires lots of fuel to travel such a long distance. And we would have received information through various sources if such incident indeed happened.” Search operation have already been conducted to find the missing fishermen through Satellite, Helicopters, BSF and also with Coastal security force. But all efforts went in vein. There is a possibility to rob boats by other state fishermen, as several cases have happened in the past and we are looking in to it.” He then said “I have discussed the matter with the Chief Minister of Karnataka and he has announced to provide Rs.1 lakh as a temperory compensation to the families of each fishermen. The amount will be distributed by the district administration soon” MLA Sunil Naik, District administration officials, Jilla Panchayat President Jayashree Moger and other officials were present on this occasion.
