Want to free Karnataka of Congress rule: Amit Shah

06:31AM Sun 4 Jan, 2015

BJP national president Amit Shah said on Saturday that he came to the city to free Karnataka of the Congress rule and to review the party's ongoing membership drive. In a 30-minute interaction with the media, a major part of which he devoted to the Modi government's achievements, Shah credited the Shah credited the Karnataka BJP for giving 17 MPs, which helped the NDA to form the government at the Centre. How is the BJP going to handle the reconversion controversy created by the VHP? Ghar wapsi is not a BJP government's programme. We are against forceful conversion. I want the so-called secular parties to support the BJP in bringing a law against forceful conversions. On the Congress party's plans to form a Bharatiya Hindu Parishad to counter VHP. Everybody has a right to form such outfits. All people -Muslims and Christians -are independent to form such groups. Everybody has the right to do so. What will be the fate of regional parties with the BJP launching "Congress-free" campaign? We don't want to send the Congress out of the country , but only out of power. They are comfortable sitting in the opposition benches. Regional parties will survive. Has the CBI's image dipped as you have been discharged by a special court in a special court in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh case? The previous UPA government was right as the charges were framed by them. But it is not the NDA government which has discharged me in the case; it is a court verdict that does not does not come under the government's ambit. The clean chit was given by the court and they work under the Supreme Court's super vision. National Conference leader Omar Abdullah has, in a tweet, ruled out any deal with the BJP regarding government formation. Do you believe that Omar Ab dullah will reveal all the truth to you? Even I cannot say any thing on this. The BJP is keeping all its options open. -TOI
