Victim of poor condtion of NH 17; loaded truck overturns near Usman Nagar

Bhatkal - As the condition of NH 17 is deteriorating every passing day, road accidents and traffic jams have become the normal routine in Bhatkal. At one end many vehicles' wheels get stuck in the deep pits, while on the other end, several vehicles lose control trying to escape deep potholes and overturn in the middle of the road blocking the normal flow of traffic. In a similar incident, a loaded truck bound for Mangalore from Maharashtra overturned trying to escape potholes near Toor Masjid, Usman Nagar. Both cleaner and the driver escaped unhurt.

It may be noted that recently NGOs of Bhatkal held a meeting here at IB and decided to hold massive protest on 1st Nov 2010, if Highway Authority fails to begin repair works on 25th Oct as promised earlier.
