Uttara Kannada district gets Rs. 40 lac for ‘Modernizing’ Madrasas from state government

Karwar: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Four Madrasas in Uttara Kannada District received a one-time grant of Rs. 10 lac each, for ‘Modernizing’ Madrasas, as a part of Government of Karnataka’s efforts of ‘Modernizing’ Madrasas across the state. The Department of Minority Welfare, Directorate of Minorities on February 8, issued a notification that stated that the government of Karnataka, under Modernization of Madrasas Scheme has released a one-time grant of Rs. 8.12 crores for 92 Madrasa across the state. Among the 92 shortlisted states, four from Uttara Kannada District has received the grants of Rs. 10 lac each. Speaking to Bhatkallys.com Minority Officer Shamsuddin, confirmed the news and that it is the 4th batch of release and for last four years the Minority Directorate has continued this scheme to introduce Modern, Formal and Computer Education in Madrasas. However, no Madrasa from the coastal belt of the district did not receive the grant, as one of the criteria to get the grant is that the Madrasa shall be registered with the Government”. All the four Madrasas which have received grants are from Dandeli. Under the scheme the government has in 4 batches over last 4 years, released about Rs.16 crores 76 lac. (Bhatkallys News Bureau)
