Uttar Kannada's DC directs authorities to accelerate NH-66 expansion work

March 29, 2015 | Correspondent | Bhatkallys News Karwar: Uttar Kannada district's Deputy Commissioner Mr. Ujjwal Kumar Ghosh has directed the authorities to accelerate the pace of the Kundapur-Goa NH66 highway expansion work and complete it within the stipulated period. After performing a review in the Deputy Commissioner's Office of the work completed as of date on the four-lane highway, he said that only 4% work has been completed on the 180km-highway, deadline for which was set as December 2016. In the Uttar Kannada district, the road is being upgraded and converted into a four-lane road at a cost of Rs 1650 crore, he added. In the first phase, road development work has begun on the government land and should be completed as soon as possible. Landholders who are loosing their land because of four-lane expansion should be provided the compensation as soon as possible, he added. He also stressed on completing as much work as possible before the onset of monsoon. - ARF
