UT Khader welcomes government's move to end Haj subsidy

Mangaluru: 'We welcome the government's move to end the Haj subsidy for the pilgrimage of Haj', said U T Khader - Minister for food and civil supplies addressing reporters here at Circuit House on Jan 17, Wednesday. Khader said, the subsidy only benefited the agents and not the needy one's. Earlier, the Air India express, was the only flight to board the passengers who comes under this quota. Now that, after the cancellation the passengers can board any flight of their choice. There are also chances of competition in aviation industry and would offer cheaper airline rates. He clarified that there is no loss for the haj pilgrims in the cancellation of subsidy. He further said that, the Haj is only compulsory for the one who can afford it and is not mandatory for all. Khader was greatful for achieving 'Best Performance Award' for its 'State and Civil Supplies department'. He thanked Siddaramiah for his co-operation and wholehearted support and also thanked Revenue department for its joint effort. AICC Secretary, ZP vice president Mohammed Monu, Madhu Yakshi and others were present.
