Upset with state govt's cuts in minority funds, Tanzeem submits memorandum to AC

Bhatkal: December 16, 2020 (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Majlis-e-Islah-o-Tanzeem today handed over a memorandum to the Chief Minister through AC against the state government's cut in minority funds. Expressing his views on the occasion, Mr. Abdul Raqib MJ, General Secretary of Majlis-e-Islah-o-Tanzeem said that the present state government led by B.S Yediyurappa does not take the minorities seriously. He said that funds for the welfare of minorities i.e. Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Parsis, Jains and Buddhists are being slashed and many schemes given to them are being shut down. Giving details, he said that the fund for minorities for which Rs 1897 crore was released five years ago has been reduced to Rs 1571 crore and then further reduced to Rs 1177 crore.  Then in 2019-20, the fund has been reduced by Rs 50 crore to Rs 1,055.00 crore. The General Secretary said that the minority students who were going abroad for higher studies and practicing medicine would be given Rs. 300,000 a year and 300 children would be given a total of Rs. 90 million by the state government. But the State Government has also canceled it to save these 9 crore rupees.  In addition, Rs. 270 crore was allocated for the scholarships issued by the Central and State Governments, but due to lack of funds from the State Government, many students have lost this scholarship. He said that the Majlis-e-Islah-o-Tanzeem demanded that in order to brighten the future of the minorities, these benefits should not be snatched but the funds given five years ago should be restored. Mr. Imran Lanka read out the memorandum in Kannada. Mr. SM Pervez, Mr. Jilani Shabandri, Mr. Altaf Kharuri, Mr. Inayatullah Shabandri, Mr. Maulana Aziz-ur-Rehman Rukn-ud-Din Nadvi, Mr. Sadiq Mata, Mr. Sadiq Palwar, Mr. Imran Lanka, Mr. Nabil Anjum and others were present on the occasion.
