Updates on Jamia Islamia Bhatkal's Education Convention

Bhatkal - 13 March 2012: Preparations are in full swing for the upcoming Education Convention of India's famous Islamic seminary, Jamia Islamia Bhatkal. Jamia is organizing this convention to mark its 50th anniversary which will be held on 18th March 2012. As a part of this, series of meeting with media persons, intellectuals and government and non-government organizations have been conducted at various parts of India and abroad.
On this occasion an exhibition on the history and cultural heritage of Bhatkal will be the major attraction according to the organizers. There will be number of antique and rare things on display including models of the old Sultan Masjid, old Jamia Masjid, old Mushma Masjid and various other traditional Bhatkalli structures, art and crafts and contribution of Jamia graduates are also showcased. It is expected that a huge number of visitors from Bhatkal and various parts of India are likely to attend the historic event.
Recently, a reception committee of Education Convention held a meeting at the conference hall of Jamia Islamia, where various committee in-charge and dignitaries from the neighboring places were invited to discuss various issues. The convener of the convention, Maulana Ilyas Jakti Nadvi, outlined the program details and appealed all the participants to give their best to make this event memorable.
The convention will begin on 18th March with the program 'Message to Humanity', which will be presided by the patron of Jamia Islamia Bhatkal and the president of All India Muslim Personal Law Board, Maulana Syed Muhammad Rabey Hassani Nadvi. The same day the exhibition will be opened for the visitors from morning 9 am. The program, 'Message to Humanity' will start at 3 pm and conclude before Maghrib prayers. A session on Misconception on Islamic Madrasas and role of Madrasas in maintaining peace will be held and all doubts regarding this will be addressed.
The deputy chairman of Rajya Sabha Mr. K Rehman Khan and Karnataka Director General of Police, Mr Shankar Bidari will be present as the chief guests of the function. A prominent Guru from Dharmasthala Shri Bharmanand Saraswati Swamiji, Uttara Kannada district in-charge minister and Education minister of Karnataka Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri along with other dignitaries will also be present.Member of Parliament from Kerala and former education minister IT Muhammed Basheer, IAS officer and former Vice-chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University, Dr. Mahmud-ur-Rehman, Principlal of Darul Uloom Deoband, Moulana Muhammed Salim Qasmi, President of All India Milli Council, Maulana Abdullah Mughaisi, President of Jamiat e Shabab, Maulana Sulaiman Husaini Nadvi, Principal of Nadva University Lucknow, Dr. Sayeedur Rahman along with many other educationists and intellectuals from all over the nation will be present for the six day convention.
The literary work of Jamia Islamia Graduates and an All India Seminar on several topics will be presented on the occasion. The program for the general public will be held on 21st of March after Isha prayers, at Jamia Islamia Campus where more than Ten thousand peoples are expected to participate.
The Jamia Islamia was founded on 20th August in the year 1962 under the able guidance and patronage of Dr. Ali Saheb Malpa, Janab Sada Jafri Sahab, Al-Hajj Mohiuddin Saheb Muniri, Janab D A Abubakar Saheb and D A Ismail Saheb. The Madrasa has the strength of 1100 students, 47 teachers, and 30 non-teaching staff members. The curriculum comprises religious subjects such as Tafseer and Hadith along with Languages, Geography, Political Science, History, Mathematics etc. Jamia has also have a full fledged department for Hifz (memorization of the entire Quran).
