Unorthodox way of vehicle checking by police irks locals; Tanzeem officials meet Dy.SP demanding transfer of PSI

Bhatkal 26 September 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Irked locals in Bhatkal on Wednesday morning lodged their protest against unorthodox methods of vehicle checking by police department after the latter blocked roads with rocks in a bid to stop the traffic violators from escaping.
On Wednesday morning, Bhatkal town PSI Kusumadhara along with few constables started vehicles checking in Sultan Street, initially the locals expressed their dissent over the checking in such localities and alleged that the officer was 'targeting' Muslims dominated area and youngsters during the checking to collect fines.
However, when the police personnel blocked a road using rocks and stones in a bid to stop youngsters from escaping, the action irked locals and soon hundreds of people reached the spot to protest, after messages regarding the issue went viral on social media groups.
The police soon called for reinforcement, and Bhatkal CPI Ganesh K, reached the spot to control the crowd.
Abdul Sami Madikal, complaint about PSI Kusumadhara to CPI, and alleged officer of partially supporting a particular community by letting them go during checking while catching hold of members of other community.
A delegation of Majlis-e-Islah wa Tanzeem, met Bhatkal Dy.SP Valentine D'Souza following the incident, demanding action against Kusumadhara or transferring the officer.
Majlis-e-Islah wa Tanzeem General Secretary, Altaf Kharuri while speaking to Bhatkallys.com to said "We met Bhatkal Dy.SP following the incident in the morning and strictly opposed the way things are turning out under the new PSI of Bhatkal town, Kusumadhara and have demanded his transfer as well. We questioned them about the approach of the officer as several incidents lately indicates that the officer is favoring a community while clutching the other".
Bhatkal Dy.SP Valentine D'Souza also spoke to Bhatkallys.com and cleared the stand of the department and that all such allegations are baseless and that the department is not partial towards anyone, however the complaint will be looked in and we will see what went wrong today".
