Bhatkal: Strengthening unity by setting aside differences is essential for building a strong and progressive community, said Ateequr Rahman Muniri, convener of the Fifth Inter-Jamaat Conference.

He was speaking at a meeting held at Tanzeem Milli Masjid at 9 pm on February 11, where details of the resolutions adopted at the conference were shared.

The three-day conference, held from January 17 to 19, saw participation from 42 organisations and Jamaats from India and abroad. A total of 70 resolutions were passed after discussions in 11 sessions covering education, economy and moral development, he said.

Among the key decisions taken were improving the quality of education, providing continuous training for teachers, giving importance to Arabic and Quran studies in community schools, and strengthening a special wing to prepare youth for UPSC and Civil Services examinations. It was also decided to create awareness among parents about giving priority to local educational institutions.

Senior scholar Maulana Khwaja Mohiyuddin Akrami Nadvi said the success of resolutions lies in their implementation. He expressed concern over increasing social evils, excessive spending on weddings and the negative impact of social media on youth.

Maulana Abdul Aleem Khateebi Nadvi and Maulana Abdul Rab Nadvi stressed the need to protect the religious and cultural values of the community.

Presiding over the meeting, Tanzeem president Inayatullah Shabandri said a 32-member Inter-Jamaat Committee has been formed to ensure implementation of the resolutions passed at the conference. Office-bearers will be selected soon and an action plan will be prepared, he added.

Abdul Rakheeb M.J. presented the resolutions. The programme was compered by Maulana Maqbool Ahmed Kobatte, while Deputy Convener Muhiyuddin Altaf Kharoori delivered the vote of thanks.
