Unanimous election of Syed Aadam Panambur as Jali Patan Panchayath President

Bhatkal 18 July 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) The much anticipated election for the president of Jali Patan Panchayath Bhatkal came to an rather early end as no other candidate other than Syed Aadam Panambur filed their nomination for the elections, hence electing Syed Aadam unanimously on Wednesday 18 July 2018. The elections were scheduled to be conducted on Wednesday after 3.00 pm, however the deadline to file the nomination for the election was set at 12.00 pm in a notice issued by the Tahsildar of Bhatkal earlier last week. On Wednesday morning only Syed Aadam Panambur turned up to file his nomination along with his supporters and fellow Councillors, No other candidate filed nomination papers, as Majlis-e-Islah wa Tanzeem, which has 11 members, dominates the 0-member Jali Patan Panchayath. However, the official announcement of his election as the presidents will come out on the scheduled election time (i.e 3.00 pm), and he will take charge as the president of Jali Patan Panchayath with immediate effect as the post has been vacant for over a month now since the resignation of Abdul Rahim Shaikh as the president. Syed Aadam will serve as the president for the remaining part of the current tenure which has just over eight months left. On Tuesday, Syed Aadam was selected as the Majlis-e-Islah wa Tanzeem's candidate to contest the elections, he secured 45 votes as against 30 secured by Syed Bilal Qamri in Tanzeem's internal voting to select the candidate.
