BENGALURU, April 19,2017 (DH): To give a boost to the swimmers in Bengaluru, the Kensington swimming pool in Ulsoor, which was shut from 2008 for renovation, was inaugurated in the presence of Sports Minister Pramod Madhwaraj and other dignitaries here on Wednesday.  The pool will be managed by an olympian swimmer Nisha Millet. She will also coach swimmers in the pool. Millet said, “We are likely to have our official launch by next week because there is still some work to be done. The water is still green and I would like the water to be totally clean.”

The other works for a public pool are completed. Even the starting blocks are placed and bathrooms are constructed. She added, “Now that the pool has been given to us, we will start work on it. We are starting the camps at our other centres on April 24 and we would like to start activities in this pool on the same day. This will be an academy that will coach swimmers throughout the year.”  Madhwaraj said, “The idea is to run it professionally and that is the reason it was given to Nisha Millet. There should be a professional training programme for children. Their safety is also important.”For the public, the entry fee is `70 and `100 per hour on weekdays and weekends respectively.
